More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Ever since high school I tutored elementary schoolers at my local library through a volunteer program called Helping Hands. I went to college in Italy and I professionally tutored children in English and also spent a summer as a camp counselor. I got my CELTA certificate (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and was suppose to travel and teach but COVID got in the way of those plans. I ended up in my current role but now I’m looking to go back to working with children as it brings me the most happiness. I also have 4 nieces and nephews who I absolutely adore!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’m a big fan of nature and wildlife, so I love talking about animals with my nieces and nephew. Trips to the zoo and children’s museums are usually a big hit. I enjoy cooking/baking and letting the kids help is fun and interactive. I also like to play board games and read with them!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the most important things about being a nanny is ensuring safety. I’m very cautious and would always make sure everyone is safe. Which is why I am also First Aid/CPR/AED certified and will renew my certification before working with your family.
My experience with special needs children...
I have limited experience work with special needs children. We had a few kids with special needs while I was a camp counselor and they were a joy to work with! Although, they had their own counselor throughout the day who had special qualifications to work with them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the most memorable moments I had was bonding with one of my nieces on my partner’s side (we were visiting his family in Italy) and she was 2 at the time. My Italian was pretty rusty but we were playing and I also needed to get her changed as we were heading out for the day. Between a low intermediate Italian speaker and a toddler, you can imagine the conversation we were (trying) to have! I was trying to figure out where their laundry goes and where her clean clothes were. Practicing another language with a toddler is actually much easier because they don’t know if you mess up! Although, at times she couldn’t understand me and it was pretty hilarious. It was so sweet, and I wish she wasn’t so far!
