A little bit about me

Hello!
My name is Camille and I am originally from Southern California. I have spent the last few years living abroad in Australia, New Zealand and Alaska!
I am looking for a full time nanny or au pair position.
I love nature, science and child development. I have worked as a nanny, au pair, preschool teacher and I have 12 credits in child development giving me a solid understanding of age appropriate play, learning, and activities. I truly love working with children and encouraging their creativity through play, crafts, and fun! I am passionate about helping children understand their emotions and communicating in a way they are open to. I am reliable, patient, empathetic, silly, and fun! A little about me: I love spending time in nature, going on hikes, to the beach, gardening, baking, and crafting! I look forward to hearing from you & meeting your kiddos!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Before working as a preschool teacher, I worked at a daycare at my local YMCA for children 3 months to 12 years old for 4 years. I have also been a day camp counselor for first graders, as well as a sleep away camp counselor or for middle schoolers. I am CPR and first aid certified for children, adults, and babies. I have also been babysitting consistently for 12 years now.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outdoors with kids and don't mind getting a little dirty in the process! I try my best to encourage children's imagination whether that be through making forts, going on adventures, having dance parties, crafting, or making crazy concoctions in the kitchen (that I will make sure to clean up haha).

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe providing consistency and emotional safety is so important in creating a trusting and healthy dynamic. Along with play, laughter and creativity as well. I think the more peace, trust and fun you can create for a child the happier and healthier they are!

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience working with children with various special needs. My studies in child development did give me a good basic understanding but it is not something I have a specialized education in. I'm definitely open to working with children with special needs and I am happy to educate myself further so I can support your kids in a way that best works for them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Ah! How I do choose? I would say one of my favorite kid moments would have to come from working as a camp counselor. I had a rambunctious and wild group of 10 first graders and it was chaotic fun to say the least. As the week began to unfold, I noticed one of my campers wasn't making friends and participating as easily as some of the others. Although he wasn't one to be screaming camp songs on the bus, he was always willing to lend a helping hand and that gave me an idea. The next morning he came in, I appointed him to be be my mini co-counselor with his own clip board and everything. He thrived in this position and I could see his confidence grow and his comfortability around his fellow campers too. This was a perfect example for me, that each kid has something so unique and awesome to offer. We just have to be willing to understand their strengths and give them a little extra support where they might need it.
