More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I volunteered in my church daycare for two years. This involved putting lessons and activities together for the kids and keeping them engaged during the church service. I also, have experience nannying two kids ages 7 and 12. I would sometimes spend weekends there and watch them daily. Some of the tasks included: preparing breakfasts, and lunches, driving them to and from school and activities, helping out with homework, and just hanging out with them. I also, have experience babysitting full time for two kids one was a newborn and the other was 4 years old. This was 5 days a week for about 6 hours per day. This included preparing meals for them, reading them stories, putting together activities, bottle feeding the baby, and having scheduled nap times.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy taking children outdoors as much as possible. I think that there is a lot that the outdoors can teach you. I enjoy going to parks, on walks, hikes, playing sports. Pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. If the weather isn't the greatest I find that building forts with the kids is always a fun activity. Sometimes having a structured baking session, or reading books together, getting artistic, and playing card or board games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to me about being a nanny is creating this safe and welcoming atmosphere for the child or children you are taking care of. I believe in leading by example, and know that children are very astute and pick up on a lot of things. I believe in not just being there to watch over the children, but being engaged and present with them in a positive way.

My experience with special needs children...

Well, I grew up with my older sister having severe Autism. I know what it is like to have a special needs sibling as well as to care for them. I was a caregiver for her for two years when I turned 18.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was when this child I was taking care of came up to me after school, and said, "Look Carmen, I made this for you". They had made me a colored Christmas tree with a bag of candies for Christmas and wrote a sweet note.
