My child care experience stretches over a span of 30 years which includes: Babysitting, raising three amazing children, a daughter now age 33 & twin boys, age 23, a Para-Professional for grades 1-12, Pre-K Teaching including Curriculum Development, a Site Director for a Before & After School Program, an Art Instructor, volunteer for The Boys & Girls Club, the Dunga Orphanage Project, The Peaceful Valley Comm Ctr & public schools.
I believe in the fundamental importance needed for all humans: unconditional love & outstanding physical & emotional safety.
I also believe in the importance of independence, which I believe is done through creating opportunities where one learns to be capable, accountable & responsible.

I am passionate about the arts & music.
I am an active 54 year old woman that sings in a traditional blues duo.
My initial meet with families is to discover what the family currently engages in, the children’s interests & passions & then find activities which compliment those activities, as well as introducing new activities to encourage growth, independence, critical thinking & problem solving.
I love exploring the arts with children, intergenerational activities & opportunities to volunteer in our/their community.
I love to be a part of supporting & encouraging children to challenge themselves to try things they haven’t tried.
Trying international foods, learning about other cultures, critical thinking & problem solving are opportunities to learn about others & ourselves.
But first & foremost what is critical is a foundation based on safety & unconditional love.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Encouraging independence, critical thinking, problem solving, self-soothing, empowerment & being accountable through providing overall safety.
Time management plays a big part of getting everything done, as well as prioritizing.
Being able to respond & react to learning opportunities are really important to me as a parent & child care provider.
It is also important to me for the families I work for to know I am reliable.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked in day programs for individuals with developmental & intellectual disabilities, although I do not always use that language, as some folks disagree with the terminology of “disabled.“
I actually prefer “other-abled“
I have worked with both one-on-one & group setting.
These opportunities took place in day programs, public schools & home settings.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Teaching kids how to do daily affirmations in the mirror while brushing their teeth, as well as teaching a two year old how to lead daily meditations.
