More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a full time nanny prior for a couple of families. One baby boy who was 5 months old. I helped to foster his development by reading to him, helping to make his meals, closely following and tracking his napping schedule, taking him for long walks, and caring to his individual needs daily. I have also recently nannied for a family that has a 4 year old daughter and a 7 year old boy and would help pick them up from school/daycare, drop them to their sport practices, drop them to their summer camps, make them meals, drive them to appointments and play at the house and read with them. Managing two different ages and personalities was very fulfilling and fun. In addition, I am also the childcare coordinator at YogaSoup. I help to get volunteers each week to watch their babies with me, while the mother’s take a class. It has been such a joy to give these mother’s a moment for self care while getting to love on and play with their precious babies.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
going to the park, arts and crafts, going on walks, going to museums, botanic gardens, cooking, getting ice cream, watching movies together, reading books and playing games/board games, taking walks on the beach or short nature hikes
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being able to be a safe and supportive space for the baby or child. I feel it is crucial to build a connection with them that goes beyond taking care of the everyday duties. Understanding them, listening to them, teaching them, tending to their needs and practicing patience and kindness are all such important aspects for me when nannying.

Hi! My name is Valerie, and I’m a caring, responsible, and patient person who genuinely enjoys spending time with children. I currently work at an elementary school, which has given me experience being around children in a school setting and helping create a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for them.

I’m also happy to help with things like homework, preparing simple meals, tidying up after the kids, and keeping them entertained with age-appropriate activities.

Hi, my name is Leah Coffin and I am a current third year student at UCSB. I am studying Sociology with minors in Education and Applied Psych and hoping to find a career within education and working with young children. I swam at UCSB for two years and I have been swimming competitively since I was ten years old. I am looking for a part time job this summer and I think childcare would be a good job for me because I have a lotto experience working with children and elementary students.
