More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For three summers, I was the kindergarten Science teacher at a summer day school in Claremont, CA called Project Think. Additionally, I have babysat all 6 of my siblings, all 13 of my cousins, as well as my neighbors children the majority of my teen and adult years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Any activities that are fun yet beneficial to a child's growing mind. Coloring, building blocks, board games, etc. I'm well versed on everything from dinosaurs to Disney characters!

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many important things! I think one things that matters a lot to me is making sure that every child feels safe and happy when I am caring for them. Having a nanny care for your children can be a vulnerable time for not only the children, but then parents as well. So I think it is extremely important that a nanny caters to every child's individual needs! Another thing I think is important to mention is I find it extremely important to maintain the same schedule for each child that their parents already have in place for them. Children can have issues constantly readjusting to different play/sleep/eat schedules so I always make sure to keep them on track. When the parents and I are in sync, it makes their days off with the kids so much easier. A harmonious parent/nanny household is always the goal!

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have enough experience with special needs children to feel comfortable being responsible for them. That being said, I am an extremely patient person and a diligent learner. So I could never say absolutely no to caring for a special needs child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The boy I used to nanny for was 6 and had just started 1st grade. One morning I'm getting ready to take him to school and as we're walking out of the door, he stops suddenly and goes, "Uhhhh wait right here, I forgot something.". So he sprints inside and then he comes back out and I take him to school. Later when I go to pick him up, his teacher goes, "Wow, that was quite an interesting item [child's name] brought in for show and tell.". I was so confused! So we get in the car and I ask him what he brought for show and tell and he goes, "Oh I forgot it was show and tell and then barely remembered this morning. So I brought this artichoke from the fridge because it looks like an alien egg!!", and proceeds to pull out an enormous artichoke from his backpack. I was FLOORED!!! I laughed for a good 10 minutes and when I told his parents, his mom laughed so hard she cried!! It was too hilarious and too cute!
