More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a ECE teacher for the past 7 years. I have been a Inclusionary teacher dealing with students in a small group for 2 Years. I’ve been a special needs assistant dealing with children with autism for 2 years. I’ve been a behavioral technician dealing with children with challenges for the last 2 years. Lastly, I’ve been a nanny throughout the summer for 7 years. I’ve also been a long term nanny for a set of twins since birth.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I’m an artist and spend lots of time painting, drawing and designing clothes.
I enjoy playing sports such as tennis , basketball, soccer and dance.
I enjoy reading, role playing and acting.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters most about being a nanny is communication, having that rapport with parents and children means a lot. Also being safe, I connect with children as if they were my own. Give them my all. Making sure they learn, have fun and some ground rules mean the most to me.

My experience with special needs children...

I have been in a classroom working with children with special needs such as, autism, ADHD, speech and language delays, cognitive delays and social and emotional disorders.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments are when I make up stories and act them. It’s so silly when we get into character and dress up. It gives children to be silly and learn how to improv.

Melany A. - Seeking Work in Washington

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Melany A.

Hi! My name is Melany, and I’m originally from Miami, Florida. I’m spending the summer in Washington, D.C. for an internship and would love to help local families while I’m here.

I have a lot of experience caring for kids, especially through my own family. I have two younger siblings, including my 8-year-old brother who is nonverbal and autistic. I’ve helped care for him for the past seven years, which has taught me patience, understanding, and how to stay calm in different situations.

I’m a student at Florida State University studying Political Science and Sociology. I’m very welcoming, dependable, and easy to get along with. I enjoy playing games, helping with homework, reading, doing crafts, and keeping kids entertained and safe.

I’m also open to light housekeeping, meal prep, bedtime routines, and pet care if needed. I know how important it is to trust your caregiver, and I would treat your children with the same care and kindness I give my own siblings.

Luisa Alejandra P. - Seeking Work in Washington

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Washington, DC: Luisa Alejandra P.

Taking care of children is a wonderful experience that has taught me a lot during my life because children are always enthusiastic, happy, willing to learn and trying new challenges. They are very curious, active and creative, and I believe that, it is important to motivate little kids to use these abilities to do different activities, say, play instruments, practice sports, do art and craft and so on. When I am with children I see how they taught me to be happier and express my feelings, have no fears, be brave, forgive and enjoy life all the time. They see the beauty in everything while adults just see simple and ordinary things, I am sure that we learn more than we could imagine. I've in touch with children for around 4 years as I studied a BA in languages.
