My heart still melts thinking about my daily ‘car rides’ with a 4-year-old I used to nanny. We’d sit in my parked car, turn on music, and pretend to drive everywhere - complete with her giving me very serious directions! It became our special ritual, and seeing her face light up every time I arrived, knowing our adventure was about to begin, was the highlight of both our days. It taught me that children don’t need elaborate activities to be happy - they just need someone who’s fully present and ready to enter their world of imagination
