Hey, I’m Cheney! I’m 23 years old and a recent college graduate. I just recently moved to Wilmington, NC from Iowa, and am looking for work in child care! I’ve worked with kids since I was 12/13 years old and really love it. I like being outdoors and taking kiddos on adventures or doing creative activities! I’ll be able to help with carpooling or driving them to activities, and I have a reliable car. I can also help with other household tasks as much as wanted or needed. I’m a fun, loving, and energetic person! I have the summer off from school so my schedule is pretty flexible. I’m very excited to work with some amazing kids and families this summer!

More About Me

I have been around children my entire life. I have always enjoyed babysitting and watching after them. I have experience with helping children with school.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like to take kiddos to parks, the zoo, the pool, museums, and other fun adventures in the area. Indoors we can play with toys, arts and crafts, making forts, legos, and plenty more to keep them entertained. I think it's important for children to be kept active and entertained. I love to plan and create fun and unique experiences for the kids that I care for. I like to learn what each kid enjoys doing the most and get them involved as much as possible!

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part about being a nanny is knowing the kids you're taking care of. I have learned through my time with children that they are all different and it's so important to find their interests to get them involved in activities. I'm a very loving, fun, and energetic person so making sure to bring that into my time with the kiddos is also important!

My experience with special needs children...

I have been involved in a mentoring program for special needs children. I worked with children with down syndrome, autism, ADHD, and more. I was also raised around some down syndrome family members and have loved helping them. Through these experiences, I have learned how to help children with special needs and to have patience and love for them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was taking some kiddos on a trip to the zoo. Watching them learn about all the animals and see them for the first time made my heart so happy. It was amazing to see the light in their eyes and the excitement they had!
