In 2016, I was given the responsibility and blessing to be a godmother, which I did have to fulfill for a few months after he turned 2. Not long after, I dated someone who had a daughter, she was a year old, and I took care of her while he worked during the day, and for a while after he and I split up. Of course, during the summer between the ages of 10-15 I would babysit for some of my neighbors.
My experience with special needs children...
My sister, who was 2 years younger than me, was born with cerebral palsy, autism, and failure to thrive. She could not speak words in a sentence, or walk without assistance, she was in a diaper her entire life, needed braces on her legs to stand, and ate through a tube in her stomach. I took care of my sister every day after school from the time I was 10 years old until she passed away.
