Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I currently work with young children with autism as a Behavior Technician. I implement individualized plans to improve behavior and independent function. This job requires a lot of compassion and patience, and I love it with all my heart. Prior to this, I began babysitting in high school, and started to gain professional childcare experience in college through my role as a research assistant in the Early Social Development Lab. I had the honor of volunteering as a baby hugger in the NICU at Prisma Health Richland for several months. I fell in love with each and every baby that I held, and I hope to spread more to your precious babies!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing any activities with children! I love to bring toys and activities that the child prefers, but my go-to’s are books, Play-Doh, pretend food, and coloring books. I also enjoy creating artwork outside with chalk, and taking them on walks or to the park.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part about being a childcare provider is providing safety for the child. It is also important for the provider to build rapport with the child, so that they feel comfortable and happy to be around.
My experience with special needs children...
I care for children with autism spectrum disorder almost daily. I also have experience working with children with ADHD, life-threatening illnesses (such as cystic fibrosis and various heart conditions), and babies born to substance-using mothers.
