It’s A Sensory World, Dallas — Substitute Teacher
As a seasonal substitute teacher, I was responsible for implementing lesson plans left by head teachers for children diagnosed with ASD and other developmental delays ages 3-18 years old. This position not only allowed me to gain proficiency in classroom management, but also in parent-teacher communication, problem solving, and multitasking. I also received the opportunity to learn how to make curriculum adaptations for each individual student depending on their unique needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny to me is providing consistency and compassion. I strive to foster an environment where children feel both safe and heard, and love to organize opportunities to have lots of screen-free fun!
My experience with special needs children...
I have extensive experience caring for special needs children or varying ages and abilities. I am comfortable helping in all aspects of care from feeding, to toliting, to transferring into and out of mobility aids, to providing transportation, and assisting in any and all aspects of medically necessary daily care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favourite nanny moment providing a week of respite for a family with two twins who had Cerebral Palsy! We planned the whole week full of fun activities, the girls got to cook some of their favourite foods, and we had many dance parties in the living room with the music turned all the way up (as per their request) because mom and dad were away. A great time indeed!
