Teacher/caretaker at a daycare for infants & toddlers. I have been working for individual families for the past 15 years. My most recent position just ended as mom just had another baby and has decided to stay home with the kids. Their reference is available upon request.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to teach while playing. Anything that builds age appropriate skills. That includes a handful of baby signing. Inside or out. Making up stories with toys… always geared toward family.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Patience and being crazy about kids. For me… it’s the littles. (Infants and toddlers).
My experience with special needs children...
I have a grandson who was a micro preemie born at 1lb7oz and needed constant therapies, training and teaching. I was his primary caregiver aside from parents and therapists. He is now 21 and an awesome young man!
I also have a granddaughter with Down Syndrome who is the light in every room and doesn’t know a stranger. She has had many therapies. She is a very bright 7yo and is in “regular” school now and doing well. Engaging and learning with her has been the glue that holds us together.
