More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Due to being the oldest child and only sister I have a lifetime of experience caring for children and, coupled with 5 years in the restaurant service industry, a lot of patience. When I was 18, I applied and was accepted into a career preparation program that connected me with a 5 week internship in the Mother-Baby Unit as well as one assisting a Preschool teacher.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

For indoor activities I love doing arts and crafts (I have an obscene amount of craft supplies), the "don't-let-the-balloon-touch-the-ground" game for a non-destructive way to toss a ball around the house, learning spanish together, playing board games and dance-along videos.
I think making time to be outside is very important so I like taking the kids to the park or for a walk, play a game of soccer, do tie dye, draw on the sidewalk with chalk, and do yoga.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to me most about being a nanny is providing the child(ren) with a fun, safe, and comfortable environment to grow while under my care. It's also important to me to prove to the parents that I will provide the best care I possibly can for their children and earn their trust to be responsible for their child(ren).

My experience with special needs children...

When I was in school, I was involved in the Gummy Bear program in which we would socialize, make arts & crafts, and attend school events with the students in the special needs classes.
During my internship with the Mother-Baby Unit I spent a lot of time with two of the babies born dealing with drug/alcohol dependency.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Not from when I was a nanny, but from my brothers. My family are big meat-eaters which I personally am not- but I am a good cook. My brothers used to throw fits at the idea of eating something "vegan" but since tricking them into eating a meatless and dairy-free chicken alfredo, they haven't complained since. It made me happy to show them that fruits and veggies can be delicious and to share with them cooking/healthy-eating skills I didn't learn until much later in life.

Fathi M. - Seeking Work in New York

Babysitter Available in New York, NY: Fathi M.

Hello! My name is Fathi Mohamed, I'm a first year college student studying Criminal Justice. I'm not originally from New York, I'm from Boston Massachusetts. I started working with kids very early at age 16. I volunteered by mentoring and tutoring kids with learning disabilities like Autism, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. Then after that I started working at the elementary school I used to attend as a youth staff. The role insisted of many things. I cleaned around, distributed snacks, helped doing homework. We also did swimming lessons, art classes, and weekly field days which I was in attendance for and many more fun things. I am very attentive, respectful of boundaries, helpful, kind, super aware of surroundings, e.t.c. I look forward to potentially being a nanny!
