A little bit about me

I am 56 years old and I have taught Special Education for 18 years at both Elementary and Middle School level. My School day ends at 3 pm every day and one day in a month, at 4pm. I speak 4 languages fluently. Kiswahili, English, Germany and my mother tongue, Kikuyu. I am from Kenya, but a US Citizen. I have lived in Kenya 22 years, Germany 13 and about 20 years in the US. Light house work is ok. I can swim, and I have CPR, AED, and epipen certifications. I hold a clean drivers' license. I was a top Nanny during my university studies while living in Boca Raton. I am a mother of 2 boys ages 24 and 26. I have both the energy and extra time.
I was a Nanny 2006/7. I have no contact with the families. I do have 5ge agency name if needed.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am a Special Education Teacher with General Education and ESOL Certification too. I have taught in the US for 18 years and still teaching in Arlington, Va.
I have worked with Pre-K to 8th graders with dissabilities ranging from Autism, Emotional Behavior Challenges, Severe Emotional Challenges, students with ADHD etc. I have pushed into General Education classes as a SPED Resource teacher. I was an Au Pair in Germany and a Nanny while studying in Florida. I have two sons, ages 24 and 26. As a Nanny, I drove children to and from school, made meals and cleaned up the kitchen. I helped with homework , shopping and did other activities like arts and crafts. I swam with the kids or watched them swim. Occasionally, I took the children to the park and play ground. With advance notice, I did additional hours and did babysitting when the parents requested. I sometimes helped with bathing when I stayed longer. I am fluent in German, English and Kiswahili.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, arts and crafts, walks, homework, tutoring, science projects fur fun. Sharing my experiences from the countries I have visited.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Children's safety first, nurturing care, listening patiently and giving meaningful feed back, encouraging effort, capturing teaching moments, offering clarification and most important, being on the same page with the parents on upbringing, rules, expectations as the "step in place parent".

The most important part about being a nanny...

Movie time, cooking/baking, arts and crafts and helping them do better in school through reviewing work, practicing and being prepared for school, then seeing them progress.
