I have served as a camp counselor at St. Stephen's Summer Camp in Salem, SC, as well as at my high school's Vacation Bible School. During high school, I frequently babysat for my numbers, caring for their five young children (ages 2-11). I'm also the oldest of five children within my own family, and cared for my siblings often growing up (from about the age of 12; my youngest sibling is 9 years younger than me).

I was an undergraduate English major, so I love reading with children; I also like doing arts and crafts activities, cooking together, and being outside in nature, going on walks, etc.

Building a strong, vibrant, and meaningful relationship with the children! I don't take lightly that I'll be taking care of them through some of their formative years.
My experience with special needs children...
One of my sisters has an unspecified/undiagnosed learning disability. My other sister also has symbrachydactyly (a congenital condition in which the fingers are not formed properly) on her left hand, but does not experience many mobility limitations based on this condition. I babysat both of my sisters frequently growing up.

Reading bedtime stories to my neighbor's five children! I'm a big believer in the power of storytelling, so it was so sweet to see how they saw themselves in these books and what they learned from them.
