Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I don't just sit and watch...let go play! I love seeing the world with a kids point of view.. it's humbling and fun! I'll climb where they climb (the size of space being the only stipulation) , play the games they make up, and of course....getting our hands dirty,! I love mixing it up and letting them be the teacher, I've actually learned quite a bit and applying the no fuss to the point problem solving skills to some pretty tricky adult stuff! Reading, art, and taking a break to find objects in the clouds..these are a must!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I am the lucky one. I may be chosen to protect, provide care, and nurture only in the short lived absence of the parents/guardians....but I'm there because of trust. Some may think that picking someone by a picture and paragraphs to watch their angels is risky..but a parents intuition is a 6th sense...but that only gets your foot in the door.. step 1. Then the intense step 2.. building TRUST. Once trust is built, the shared interest in the all around wellbeing of said child/ren becomes a beacon, a shared love language. Trust is most important, it's what brings it all together.. the foundation. It also helps having experience...lol
The most important part about being a nanny...
When the kids keep looking back at me on the playscape...and their looks go from 'yeahy she's on here with me', to 'shes still here'?, to ' I'm gonna see just how long she can hang'.. Tell me we're playing a game without telling me we're playing a game! Can't leave out the smiles and conquering nap or bedtime!
