I babysit my three-year-old sister three days a week and have been doing so for the last three years. I also babysat three boys for two years. The youngest boy was two-years-old and the other two boys were nine-years-old. I babysat for my uncle's wife so that meant I was looking over her baby (two-year-old), her older son (nine-year-old), and my brother (nine-year-old)
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy encouraging hands on activities in order to enhance motor skills. One thing I like the most is going to the park and encouraging social skills. I believe that the park is not just for playing, but to overcome multiple challenges/fears children might have.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny movement is seeing how the skills I encourage are being practiced. For example, while babysitting my sister, I noticed she would be scared of going down the slide. I started small at first and what I did was talk to her and ask her what was scary. Since she was only two and a half she just refused to go down the slide. I then asked her if she wanted me to go down with her and she said yes. After that she realized that going down the slide was fun, but she still did not want to go down by herself. I then told her that I could hold her hand as she went down on her own and she agreed. Soon after that she was going down on her own without any kind of support.
