Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have raised my own three children, did in-home childcare for infants, toddlers and preschoolers when my kids were little, and have taught middle school science, art & engineering for 20 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe creative play is how kids learn and grow best. Imaginary play (with or without toys), exploring their surroundings inside and outside, and creating new things (art, music, crafts) are the ways I best like to engage with kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Our children are our most precious responsibilities. Entrusting them to the care of another can be scary. As a parent, I fully understand how important finding the right person is. My goal is to make your children feel safe, happy and loved, and to make you feel at ease knowing they are being well cared for when you can not be there for them.

My experience with special needs children...

I have had minimal experience with special needs children beyond working with those who were assigned to my classes.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have had several of my kids claim me as their own and the sound of them exclaiming, "My Dawn!!" when they would see me still makes me smile. Having them bolt from their parents' side to run up to meet me when they see me in public (Walmart, church, etc...) was a little nerve-wracking, but I would always be there to scoop them up quickly for a hug before handing them back off to their folks.
