The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many thoughts on this… it isn’t one thing that is important… there are so many things.
Their safety - this is important for the child and the parent. As a parent myself, I feel the need to know my child is safe with you, or me in this case.
Showing them love - respecting their space but also being available for a hug when it is needed.
Showing respect and teaching manners I the best way possible. I’m a stickler when it comes to saying please and thank you..: I believe this is part of my job as a caretaker alongside mom and dad.
Being on the same page as mom and dad - this includes communication, discipline, and all the fun stuff that comes with being part of the team.

My experience with special needs children...
I have knowledge in ABA, I was a RBT, worked with 7 different clients for both center and in-home ABA therapy. And I have been working with a family with a child on the spectrum for over 7 years. For this particular child, I was able to be his aide at school, and his caregiver outside of school.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My most heartfelt moment - child on the spectrum felt safe enough to make the best eye contact with me for the first time. I remember those little hands on my cheeks suddenly pull me close to his face and look directly into my eyes for a solid amount of time - it was like he was looking in my soul and his smile… my heart melted.
