A little bit about me

Hello. I love fostering childrens curiosity, imagination, and their budding personalities! My background in as a retired Physical Therapist, and I also studied Clinical Psychology with a body Base, which was rooted it exploring the neuroscience behind attachment relationships, all formed in those first 18 months of life and that form the basis of how we view the world. I recently moved to Pahoa and am looking to support a family part-time. For the last three summers I have been in the Taos Ski Valley of New Mexico helping a single Mom with her son, now 6 and a half. I come with excellent references. My work schedule is flexible and I am happy to help with light house keeping and meal prep. What I have learned in my Psychology Training was, even though structure and boundaries are important to develop trust and consistency, I also to learn to follow the child's curiosity and support their strengths, and mirror the child, both in emotion and physical movements. I believe spending time in nature and in ways that support new experiences utilizing the body and the senses are critical in development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part for me is sharing in the joys and excitement of learning, exploring new experiences, and providing a healthy relationship that fosters a strong sense of self in a developing Human Being!

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked in Early Intervention on Maui with 0-3 year old kids with various developmental delays and special needs. I was also the Newborn Hearing Screening Coordinator for the island from [phone number hidden]

The most important part about being a nanny...

When my 6 year old friend/ client told me this summer, with strong conviction, "I WANT you to be my babysitter!!". We hiked regularly on the mountain exploring nature - bugs, snakes, animals and insects of all finds and had so much fun together!
