A little bit about me

i go by damien and use they/them pronouns. i am a 22-year-old AFAB person who loves to garden, learn about science and nature, read sci-fi and fantasy books in my free time, and hang out with animals. i was a live in babysitter for my younger cousin for four months when i was 12, babysat and helped raised my younger sister from four years old to twelve years old, and i worked as a daycare assistant for 10 months at 19 years old until the business was sold and the worker were let go. i have a valid food handlers' card, need to redo my CPR, first aid, and safe sleep certifications but i have had valid certifications in the past. my goal when working with children is provide a safe environment for learning, healthy exploration, and engaging play activities. i will only work with a maximum of three children at a time, and only child at a time if they are special needs as to ensure the best quality care i can provide. i have flexible hours and no dependents of my own aside from my pets.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

i do a lot of babysitting for my aunt and parents. i have 10 months experience as a payed daycare worker/early educator working with newborns up to thirteen-year-olds. most of my experience is unpaid work for friends and family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

due to my own love for gardening, nature and science some of my favorite activities to get young children engaged in are "flower hunts" where we go out, find, and identify different types of flowers and the purpose of the flowers.
i try to encourage children to grow and care for their own garden whether it consists of flowers, fruits or vegetables, with as much assistance from myself as needed/wanted by the child.

i have a passion for cooking and have taught my younger sister how to handle various cooking utensils and how to craft a variety of basic breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and with parent permission like to teach these skills to other children under my care.

i am not very athletic so most physical and outdoor activities consist of games such as hide and seek, capture the flag, walks around local parks, and sidewalk chalk drawings.

for nap times i will often read to or sing to children who do not fall asleep easily and may need extra comfort.

The most important part about being a nanny...

what matters to me is to provide a safe, healthy, educational environment for the children, and a safe, trusted, capable individual for the parents.

building a good relationship with the parents i work for and developing a routine is highly important to me as it provides stability and comfort for the children in my care.

my second highest priority is to make sure the children in my care never have a boring day, are well fed, and maintaining staying on track to reach developmental milestones.

while i may not be perfect i believe it is my duty to always put my best foot forwards and always put 110% of my effort into my job.
