Hi! My name is DeShante, and I’m a dedicated, nurturing caregiver with a strong background in education and child development. I’ve worked as a substitute teacher for several years, supporting children of all ages, and I’m also a proud mom of two—so creating a safe, structured, and loving environment comes naturally to me.

I have over 4 years of experience working with children in both educational and youth development settings. I currently work as a long-term substitute teacher and have experience supporting students in elementary classrooms, including general education and special education. I have also worked with children through YMCA programs, summer camps, and cheer coaching, where I helped create safe, engaging, and structured environments for kids of all ages.

As a mother of two young daughters, I understand the importance of patience, communication, consistency, and nurturing care. I enjoy helping children learn, grow, and feel supported while also making sure they have fun and feel comfortable.

I enjoy doing a variety of fun, engaging, and educational activities with children both indoors and outdoors. Some indoor activities include arts and crafts, reading/story time, educational games, movie nights, dance parties, puzzles, sensory activities, and helping with homework or learning activities.

For outdoor fun, I enjoy park trips, nature walks, sidewalk chalk, scavenger hunts, sports, water play, playground time, and creative games that keep children active and engaged. I love creating a safe environment where kids can learn, explore, use their imagination, and simply enjoy being kids.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with children with a variety of special needs through my work in elementary education and youth programs. I have supported children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and developmental delays, emotional and behavioral challenges, and learning disabilities.

My experience includes helping children stay engaged with routines, supporting emotional regulation, assisting with communication and social skills, and adapting activities to fit individual needs and learning styles. I strive to create a patient, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, understood, and encouraged to succeed.
