A little bit about me

Hello!!! My name is Deshaun and I’m a ball of energy!! I just graduated college with 2 degrees; one in Chemistry Education and the other in Dance. While in school I was a collegiate athlete and lead multiple clubs. I recently got a job at Willamette High School. I’d love a nanny style position because I’m a housewife at heart lol.

Childcare experience:
I grew up the middle of 5 boys so I am more comfortable with crazy boy vibes. But I did get a lot of babysitting experience with all genders. I was a very involved older brother; making meals, playing games, exploring nature, and teaching people skills. Through college I have studied and practiced child development techniques, however my certification is for high school. After graduating I became a Summer Camp Counselor; in charge of 7 or 8 kids 22 hours a day. My age group was 9-11yo and I loved those kids!!

I am a very creative person. My go to is imagination style games; I love having fake powers or hunting for dragons or making up whimsical stories. A kid’s mind is a beautiful thing, and I love to see what they can create!
I am an active person. Always ready to go to the park or take a walk. I try to remember that my active involvement in their game means the world to them. Every kid wants someone to play with.

I aim to create the safest environment that I can. I’m aware that this is a traditionally female occupation but I want kids to have more positive male role models.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My little bestie Felix. He was the youngest of his siblings and they didn’t like playing with him for that reason. So me and him got really close when I was the family’s frequent babysitter. One night we were watching movies and I was sitting in the solo chair while the kids were all on the floor with blankets and pillows. Without saying a word he got up onto the arm of my chair and put his head on my shoulder. He fell asleep like that and my heart melted.
I just love how comfortable I was able to make that kid. He always called me his best friend… and he was honestly mine.
