Hi there! My name is Destiny-Grace and I am 21, I learned a long time ago that my passion is working with children. I am a student at WGU and am working towards a degree in education. I started caring for kids at the age of 13, volunteering as a counselor at 4H camp; since then, I have babysat, nannied, worked at a Montessori school, and became and aunt. All these occupations have made me comfortable and confident working with kids with different needs and in different settings. I have a reliable car and I am a safe driver (never had an accident) and I have been CPR and first aid certified.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am an outdoorsy person by heart. I love taking kids out to explore and look for bugs and frogs. I love making up games or going along with games kids make up; like racing or an obstacle course. I am a firm believer in getting kids to spend as much time outside as possible! But I know wit this VA weather going outside isn't always an option I love reading to kids and playing card or board games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety!!! Safety!!! Safety!!! I truly can't imagine how difficult it can be to let someone new watch or drive your precious kids around. I think having that trust with parents is so important so they feel comfortable with me having their kids. And in todays world you can never be too careful! After the kids being safe, I think that learning comes next. Kids intuitively want to learn it might not be what they're learning at school but there's always something they want to learn more about. Something that truly interest them and I think, especially for older kids, finding what they are interested in is so important to keep them engaged and wanting to learn more.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had nannied for the same family for 3 years. This was my last summer with the boy (4) and we had gone to water country so many times and he was scared to get on any ride, he just wanted to do the wave pool. But one day we went in and we went a different way to the wave pool and we passed a new ride that was colorful and this caught his attention. And after 3 summers he got over his fear of rides and he loved it! I just remember his big smile and laugh as we got off the ride.
