More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Professional nanny for 5+ years, au pair for 1 year, Day Care provider 2 years and behavioral therapist for 2+ years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I believe there’s something to learn in every experience, whether that be emotional categorization, fine motor skills, vocabulary development, or simply brain stimulation. I enjoy taking kids to the park or to local splash pads, doing arts and crafts, playing dress up, imaginative and creative play, building legos or train tracks.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe that children absorb everything around them and in turn repeat behaviors and language that they see and learn in their adulthood. I think it’s so important to provide extra care, love, patience and guidance in order to show children how to cope with their big emotions that they don’t fully understand yet. Children are our future and the way in which they are brought up as well as their experiences with others, plays a big role in the way that the world and society will work in the future.
My experience with special needs children...
My degree encompassed what is formally known as abnormal psychology and special needs children, and have worked with children that have autism and ADHD etc
The most important part about being a nanny...
During my Au pair year, I lived in, and the little girl that I cared for had a nightmare, she came and got into bed with me. It was such a rewarding moment to know that she has full trust and comfort in me as she sought me out in a time of distress.
Another moment that enhanced the richness of my job is when the little boy that I nannied for in South Africa, came to me to discuss race as he was facing bullying at school. Thereafter he was able to navigate his potential trials at school through the lessons he learnt via discussions that we shared and learning different coping mechanisms to help him get through it.

I’m caring, responsible, open-minded, and full of positive energy. I love spending time with children, and I’m naturally patient and creative. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, exploring new places, and learning languages. After my time as an Au Pair & Nanny, I plan to continue my work with children and families in a professional setting—possibly as a child psychologist or counselor. This experience is an important step toward that goal.

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in New York, NY: Leah L.
Hi!
I am Leah Lawrence. I'm 21 years old and just graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Child and Family Development. I worked at the SDSU Children's Center for 2 years in the preschool classroom, but gained experience with all ages during this time. I currently work with autistic children so I am very comfortable and experienced with special needs children. I am looking to switch jobs to a part-time nanny position with a welcoming and kind family. I live in the City Heights area but am willing to travel up to 25 miles for the right family. I believe in supporting children's social-emotional development through warm, emotionally in-tuned interactions and play. I am comfortable with any animals in the home. I am fully vaccinated and look forward to meeting you and your kiddos!

Full-Time Nanny Available in New York, NY: Victoria W.
I have a passion for facilitating and maintaining supportive and kind relationships with the children and families I work with. I am flexible on parenting styles and have worked with children with speech delays, ADHD, and Dyslexia. I also worked during COVID-19 when the children I nannied were virtual learning and discovered I have a talent and love for teaching. I am also proficient in ASL and have implemented ASL with two groups of children I’ve worked with. I come from a diverse background of different cultures, countries, and people. I grew up around lots of children and have always enjoyed their presence. My favourite thing about kids is that they remind us to romanticize a world around us that we have grown used to and now see as mundane. I believe nannying is a mutually beneficial relationship where the families and children I work with and for enrich my life and I enrich theirs.
