A little bit about me

I moved to Madison in 1999 My daughter was 9 and I was the lead infant caregiver in a daycare. I became the director of the facility 2 years later. I was a private nanny for 4 years for 3 children in Killingworth. My education and work/career experiences have always been in the helping profession. I have taken care of all ages of individuals from infants to seniors. I was a private caregiver for an elderly gentleman for over 3 years and I worked in a health care facility for 4 years. Most importantly, and my greatest joy, was raising my daughter and guiding her on a path to become the independent, confident, honest, caring, intelligent and successful woman that she is. I am a college graduate, I do not smoke, had both covid vaccines including the booster, and can provide excellent work and personal recommendations. I am thoughtful, honest, caring, loving, gentle and very dependable.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a sunday school teacher for 3 years, a substitute teacher, a softball coach, a girl scout leader, and a babysitter. I was a supervisor and counselor in a residential treatment facility for male adolescents, and a case manager and counselor in a youth shelter for female and male juvenile offenders.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Learning about the things that interest them the most and providing them with the tools to explore those interests further. Also introducing them to other, new, exciting opportunities. Spending time outdoors, walks, sports and exploring nature. Reading, crafts, writing stories, and independent, imaginative play. Being a kid and celebrating that.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being there always for a child. Listening to them, and "hearing' them, supporting them, letting them feel safe with you, encouraging their special uniqueness. Talking through behaviors that might not be acceptable, or detrimental to them,
and working together to figure out better choices. Talking with the parents about any concerns and working with them and respecting their wishes and actions for the best well being of their child.

My experience with special needs children...

I have taken care of 2 different families children that had autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Wow...so many of those moments over the years. I'd have to say, I was walking, very slightly behind an 8 year old that I was taking care of, to give her a bit of "independence" with her best friend. I heard her say to her friend, " no, really... miss Donna promise". Her friend asked her what she meant. She responded " Miss Donna promise. Means the truth and will never break a promise".
