A little bit about me

I’m a young retiree looking to care for any member of your family. I have two adult kids & a granddaughter who is 5. As a Nanny, I specialize in working with special needs children. I raised my own child with special needs (& another) on my own and am happy to say that both are successful and self-reliant adults. Currently, I take care of to a child who has Down’s syndrome and who is also on the spectrum, and have come to love him as if he were my own. In addition, I was also a “Hospice Helper” for an elderly woman who had Ovarian cancer. Currently, i also take care of an elderly woman who was in a major car accident and who needs household and personal help. Beginning with the summer of 2023, I am available weekday hours of 12-5 and weekend babysitting or elder care positions & would be happy to discuss my qualifications with you in person. I would care for your family members as if they were members of my own family. I will also provide you with excellent references upon request.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

As stated in my profile, I have raised my own children as a single parent, including one with special needs. I have a granddaughter who is 4 and the love of my life. I previously enjoyed a part time nanny position for a child in grade school prior to Covid-19. I’m currently taking care of a grade schooler with special needs in the afternoon. If you are looking for an ethical (semi-retired from the legal field for over 30 years), and compassionate adult to care for your children, please message me. The most important part about being a nanny...

Having the intelligence, fortitude, and compassion to care for a family, even when things aren’t going along perfectly and troubleshooting any potential problems that may arise. I don’t have any formal CPR training but have perfected child cpr as my son was born with a throat problem and choked on I can’t tell you how many things during his childhood. I always successfully used child CPR on him and never had to call an ambulance.

My experience with special needs children...

My son is Bi-polar (diagnosed at the age of 11),and I raised him myself. To say we went through a lot of trials and tribulations together when he was a teenager, is an understatement. I can attest to the fact that not only is he a self-sufficient adult, he is a General Manager at a car dealership!

I’m also currently caring for a teenage boy who has Downs Syndrome and who is also on the Autism spectrum. I am with him on school day afternoons.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Years ago, the girl I was a nanny for came home with music homework, wherein she had to write an original piece of music. As I was trying to figure out how to help her compose music, I asked her (semi-jokingly) why she thought I would be able to compose music, and she very succinctly stated: “because you are smart”. We both laughed then diligently worked on that assignment and she got an “A”. I was so proud of her!
