I worked in school settings, campgrounds, and summer camps! I've also watched children for family friends, and lived with someone to help raise their infant from 4months to 1 year old.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Art is a great way to help kids express themselves! Creative projects allow us to get a better glimpse at what their interests are and can open up new conversations. Making up stories and going on and adventure walks, exploring nature, or dancing until we get tired and watch a movie. It's spontaneous and fun- as the world is through their eyes!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Children deserve people who are willing to put time and effort into making sure they feel safe and cared for. They have big emotions in little bodies- it's important to remember that the world is so different for them, and we can learn so much by watching and listening to what they feel.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for children with autism, EDD, nonverbal children, defiant/violent children, and children in wheelchairs as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
not exactly a nanny moment, but I dyed my hair orange to be a skittle with some teachers, and as I was putting the kids on the bus, one kid (who doesn't speak much) said "okay bye pumpkin, I love you!"
