A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Elise. I hold an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Early Childhood Education and have earned an Early Childhood Education Certificate, an Infant/Toddler Care Certificate, and SIDS qualification. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.

I have experience caring for children across a wide range of ages. As one of thirteen grandchildren, I am comfortable supervising and supporting multiple children at different developmental stages.

I am comfortable working with children of all abilities and needs and am happy to assist with light housework or errands as needed. While I do not have children of my own, I use a gentle, Montessori-inspired caregiving approach that emphasizes respect, patience, and positive guidance. I do not use yelling or physical discipline; instead, I focus on teaching appropriate behavior through natural consequences and clear, age-appropriate communication.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building a strong connection with the children in your care is essential to creating an environment where they feel safe, supported, and able to trust you. Equally important is establishing trust and open communication with the parents. In my experience, fostering a positive relationship with parents is crucial—without their confidence in you, it is difficult to achieve the full level of trust and comfort from the children themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

I served as a CAP/C caregiver for my younger cousin for five months prior to his enrollment in preschool. In this role, I was responsible for providing comprehensive daily care, including potty training, bathing, and meal preparation. I administered medications as prescribed and ensured adherence to his individualized care plan. Additionally, I transported him to and from various therapy appointments and actively participated in his physical therapy, occupational therapy, and feeding therapy sessions. Beyond meeting his physical and therapeutic needs, I focused on keeping him engaged throughout the day with age-appropriate activities, while minimizing screen time to encourage developmental growth and interaction.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had been working with a child to help him learn to chew on the other side of his mouth due to challenges related to cerebral palsy. During a feeding session, I incorporated some of his therapy exercises, and he successfully mastered the skill. Witnessing his progress was incredibly rewarding—not only because he gained a new ability, but also because I was able to support him in achieving it.
