I started my childcare journey at the YMCA with before and after daycare. I've worked at a preschool and I've nannied and babysat for families of people I've known.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am very anti- screen time. I would rather we do absolutely nothing at all before shutting our brains off with tv or devices. I am very good at creating a space that we can evade that without too much protest. It may take time, but I am so devoted to helping them create habits that keep them grounded and present. I would rather work through the emotional challenges that surface when practicing lower stimulated living. That might come off as boring or strict, but truthfully I just remember what it was like to imagine and play when I was growing up, and I see the difference it makes between then and now with the internet. I love being active, nature, learning about the world, and healthy habits. Working with kids helps me stick to my good habits as well and I end up learning things I might not have come across on my own.

The world can be very harsh. Children are right where they need to be in growing. It is the respect and care shown to them that advances their ability to grasp what they need help learning. It is most important for me to create a safe relationship for them to learn and grow.

My favorite is the moment a kid decides to trust me to tell the truth. When they stop running away from making a mistake, acting out, and just admit it to me because they've seen my consistency enough to know I am a safe person to learn with. It is one of the highest feelings I can experience. It is always so important to me, because I understand their need to feel safe with a source of guidance. I respect them and I love to see them embody the confidence that comes from learning in a safe space.
