A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Ellen and I'm from Mississippi. Currently, I work at a preschool with children ages 2-4 but due to COVID I'm looking to nanny instead.
I have graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Loyola University New Orleans. I also studied at Sorbonne University where I became proficient in French.
Ideally, I would love to work anytime after 12:00 pm for 15-25 hours a week as I take French and literature classes in the mornings.

I've found myself compatible with children of all ages (from one year olds to teenagers), each age brings their own delight and curiosity for life!
Whether it's playing with toys or homework help, I'm happy to join in. I can also help with simple meal prep and light housekeeping.

As someone who grew up with a nanny, I feel I understand the importance of the role nannies play in a child's life! I hope to get to know your children and make each day an opportunity to grow and smile.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel like joy through the feeling of fulfillment is important to me.

I want the children to thrive in school, get homework (if any is assigned) done in a timely manner, and let loose afterwards!

Whether they let loose by doing art, playing outside or with toys, reading, etc. I want a child's leisure time to feel fulfilled.

My experience with special needs children...

I've had two autistic children in my classroom before and I find these special friends to be extremely intelligent but in need of a helping hand in specific areas (such as potty training or using or their words).

I also took a course called "Learners with Special Needs" at Loyola University. This course covered how to cater to the needs of both children with disabilities and gifts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One day the children were eating bananas (which for some reason I do not like) and I was really trying to hide it but, as we all know, children always pick up on every little thing and the interaction went:
Child: "Ms. Ellen do you have a bug on your head?"
Me: "A bug on my head? What do you mean?"
Child: "I see it. I see the bug on your head."
Me: "[Child's name] Are you trying to ask me what's bugging me?"
Child: "Yes!"
