I’m Ellie I’m a marketing student going into my junior year at K-State from Lenexa, and I’m looking for a nanny job in Manhattan during the school year. I’ve always loved working with kids and have a good amount of experience from camp jobs, youth programs, and even lifeguarding. I’m big on keeping things safe, fun, and low-stress for everyone.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes my current job as a nanny this summer, plus several years working with kids in different roles. I was a Youth Program Leader at Youthfront, where I led small groups, planned activities, and helped support campers throughout the day. I also used to teach swim lessons and worked as a lifeguard, so I’ve spent a lot of time keeping kids safe around water. On top of that, I’ve babysat for families over the years and really enjoy building connections with kids of all ages.

Activities I enjoy doing with children include anything creative or hands-on. I love coming up with new crafts to do together this summer we built a fairy garden and even started sewing Barbie clothes! I also enjoy playing outside, going on little walks or adventures, reading books, and doing simple baking or snack-making activities. I really try to follow the kids’ interests and make each day fun and engaging.

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive space where kids feel truly seen and heard. It’s not just about keeping a routine or filling time it’s about building trust, being a steady presence, and helping them grow emotionally, socially, and creatively. I think kids thrive when they know someone’s in their corner, and I love being that person for them.

One of my favorite nanny moments was helping the 9 year old I watch learn how to work through a tough situation with a friend. She came home really upset after an argument, so we talked it through how to name what she was feeling, how to see it from both sides, and how to handle it with kindness and confidence. The next day, she told me she apologized and they made up, and I could tell she was proud of herself. Moments like that remind me how important it is to give kids space to talk and grow through everyday challenges.
