Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered throughout high school for PLASP Childcare services, had multiple student placements where I interacted with children and youth of all ages. I have been caring for children since I was a child myself. I have always loved appreciating them and their quirks just as much as how their brains work. When my little family members began being born it nourished the knowledge that I have always craved. To this day I care for my niblings and their cousins and friends and we have a wonderful and safe time.
I recently had the opportunity to nanny three wonderful children for approximately one year in Toronto, ON. I loved to take the children to jungle gyms, museums, parks, subway, biking, bakeries, downtown, wonderland, wherever their heart takes them. I also enjoy doing crafts with them, getting creative, and helping them manage their big feelings and body capabilities. (Finger dexterity, Hand-eye coordination, balance etc)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Almost anything that the child would like to do. There are some activities that I will not engage in, setting boundaries while also encouraging them to do what they wish. I will definitely take them to every park and help them on the playground. I enjoy playing the games they do as I aim to foster their creativity.
I do enjoy being creative and active. Crafts like, painting, colouring, paper crafts, nature crafts, sewing, and more. I enjoy going on walks and hikes and going to the beach and would love to take a little one to explore the world with me. Even bike rides around the city are a great way to spend the time. On super rainy or cold days I try to use items around the house to entertain the littles. It's incredible what we come up with.

The safety of the children, it's important that all their needs are met with safety in mind.
My experience with special needs children...
I nannied for a 4 year old autistic child for about a year and a half. He is a beautiful and caring soul. His character is strong and with impulsive tendencies which I learned to work with and appreciate. His mind was curious and always filled with wonder, even though his speech was limited we found different ways to communicate and express ourselves.
The most important part about being a nanny...
We were at the science center and I was guiding a two year old to the entrance. With all her might and confidence she pointed to the sky's and shouts "this way" and ran her tiny but determined body.... the wrong way. I simply said "other way" and she turned and stomped again "This Way" pointing in the right direction. It was such a pure moment.
Another moment would be when my younger niece, 3 years old pulled the cats body. Everyone was shocked as she screamed when she got in trouble. I let her get all her emotions out and then helped her focus on her breathing. After a while, after talking and teaching I saw a little lightbulb go off in her head. "Oh, I have to be gentle with cats" It's the scariest moments that always have the sweetest rewards.
Last instance was when a four year old autistic boy jumped into the swamp. He came out fearful and grossed out. I stayed calm and reminded him that I am there and will help him. He skipped down the hill as soon as we changed him.
