A little bit about me

I am a multiracial adoptee with a deep curiosity about human nature and life. I am multifaceted, driven and sensitive. After obtaining my G.E.D. in 2007, I explored various paths, including work and some college, before finding my passion in professional massage therapy, graduating in 2017. My interests are broad and include outdoor activities, dancing, holistic wellness, the arts, and traveling. I have babysat and nannied on-and-off throughout the last 24 years, and I grew up with au pairs, nannies, and babysitters. I am especially drawn to supporting families with neurodivergent children or those needing developmental assistance. I find joy in understanding and helping each unique child & family. It takes a village, and being a valued part of a family / team is deeply rewarding. I love guiding children through conversations and helping them celebrate new levels of understanding. The reciprocal learning and growth that can happen is what keeps me coming back to this profession.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Protecting children, working to understand their needs and who they are and giving them the love, empathy and support that they need to become healthy humans. PLAY! Giving them a healthy balance of space and engagement to encourage their curiosity to learn and interact with the world around them. They say that normally, learning something takes 400 repetitions, but that it only takes 10-20 repetitions to learn something within the context of play. This is how I orient towards my life and my work.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children with ADHD and a child with speech delays as well as ADHD.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are too many to pick just one! I felt really happy teaching my current toddler how to talk and to read. He had speech delays and was very independent. Working with the speech therapist and the parents to strategize and implement a unified plan, and seeing the progress was incredibly rewarding.
