More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I spent the past two years working for a daycare. I've worked with many different types of children and communicated everything with their parents.
I planned daily lessons for two-year-olds, helping them develop all of their skills!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love playing outside, when the weather allows. Whether it's playing tag in the backyard, or going to the park and having a picnic, I love it!
I also love the calmer activities, like coloring, making crafts, or watching their favorite movie!

The most important part about being a nanny...
Patience. It's so easy to forget that you're talking to a child when they do something, like cause an injury. I have dealt with so many toddler injuries, the most common one being biting. Sometimes it was a small bite, with a mark that went away five minutes later. Other times, it broke skin and drew blood.
When you're dealing with such a severe injury, it is so easy to get worried and angry. But they're still a toddler, and they were doing what toddlers do. Explore, discover, try new things with their bodies. Sometimes they do bite out of anger, other times it's just curiosity. It's not fair to scream, or yell, or belittle them. They didn't know.
Patience allows you to clear your thoughts, remember they are very little, and simply explain why that isn't okay. Biting hurts, that's not nice to do to our friends. Teach them, don't shame them.

My experience with special needs children...
I've worked with a few children with autism. They were all on different parts of the spectrum, and all required very different care.
There were a few children who just needed more time to calm down, or they took longer to understand certain concepts.
I've also worked with children who were completely nonverbal, and the only thing that calmed them were oral stimulation.
I've also worked with children who suffered from shaken baby syndrome, as well as children who had behavioral issues and acted out in violent manners.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I taught a few different toddlers how to fold laundry, because I was doing it so often and they often repeated what I did. Within a year, I had three toddlers folding laundry with me every Friday.
