A little bit about me

Hello! I'm Emily. I am in my second year at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul. I am double majoring in Women's Studies and Communications and hope to add a political science minor soon. I have been caring for a family in Forest Lake with a one-year-old and a soon-to-be three-year-old over the last year (full-time in summer/part-time school year). However, they are moving to Hawaii, so I will no longer care for the two kiddos. Before nannying, I worked at a childcare center throughout high school, mainly caring for children ages 6 weeks to 16 months. I also spent time in our other classrooms with our 2 and 3-year-olds. I am very excited for the weather to warm up and start spending time outdoors! Being with kids brings me so much joy! I hope I can be a good fit for your family!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered at my old Elementary school in Dayton for many years! I love to spend my time in the classroom with previous teachers I’ve had or do some of the bigger events they plan throughout the school year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy spending time outside! Some activities I did last summer included...
- Playing with water tables
- nature scavenger hunts (identifying colors, shapes, and animals)
- Going for walks
- monster truck sensory bin (using cocoa powder & water to make mud)
- chalk games
- blowing bubbles

When the weather isn't as nice some of my favorite indoor activities are...
- building forts
- tape maze/track on the floor (use painters tape)
- seasonal crafts
- color and animal matching using toys

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny/child care is communication with the children (whatever form that may take, whether verbal or visual cues) and the parents. I have found this allows for the best relationships with the family. Building relationships with the children and parents is another part of nannying that I love so much. I feel so fortunate to be able to join another family in a way.

I cared for a child with down syndrome while in my childcare position.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment is hearing the excitement of my previous nanny family's eldest child when I would get to their house. He would always shout EMILY! and try to greet me at the door with a hug.
