More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I grew up with two younger brothers, which prompted my passion for working with children. Aside from babysitting and tutoring, I taught karate for three years after earning my black belt. My students primarily ranged in age from 4-12, but I also had high school-aged students. I also created a self-defense program for girls in my home town at a local chapter of Girls, Inc. which focused on empowering young females to recognize their strength. Much of my volunteer work throughout high school, as well as that which I now do through my co-ed service fraternity, relates to working with kids. In high school, I volunteered each summer at a sports camp for physically disabled children where we helped them learn how to play adaptive sports. Here at Penn, I’ve continued teaching sports as a children’s swimming coach, and I also work as a mentor for Penn’s chapter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters. I am also an EMT and work in Philadelphia in the emergency room of a children's hospital.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
In terms of indoor activities, I love to play board games, bake/cook, make artwork, and play cards. Outdoors, I love to go biking, fishing, hiking, playing sports, walking the family dog, going to the beach, or any other kind of fun adventure!

My favorite thing about being a nanny is helping children feel comfortable and secure in who they are and supporting them in their interests, all while having fun.
My experience with special needs children...
As mentioned above, I worked at a summer camp for physically disabled children throughout high school. I also work in a children's hospital and often encounter children with disabilities in that setting.
