A little bit about me

I am the oldest sister of out of four kids and I'm too young to start a family of my own so being a nanny seemed like a good natural step to take. I don't believe kids can be "bad" some just need extra attention and I'm willing and able to handle any issue with patience and care. I also don't mind cleaning up as kids are done playing with one thing or another and I'm willing and able to cook as well. I'm a 20 year old woman and my youngest sibling is 2 years old so I still have fresh practice in taking care of any child at any age so I don't think there'll be any problems. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I took multiple child development classes in high school including a program where parents brought children to us as a daycare at a lower cost than actual daycare. I've also helped in raising my siblings as most older sisters do especially growing up in a lower income home. My siblings are still my best friends and I've never had a bad experience with a child. I frequently get asked to babysit by ex-coworkers, family members, and friends so I figured maybe I should make a career out of it.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor activities include (but are not limited to):
Coloring, painting, various crafts, board games, playing with barbies, legos, cars, etc
Outdoor activities include (but are not limited to):
Basketball, soccer, kickball, baseball, catch, frisbee games, tag, etc

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part is to give the child the attention and support they need while remembering not to replace the parents in the child's eyes. As a nanny I wouldn't ever want a child to end up calling me mom or seeing me as a parental figure. I am a caregiver and would prefer if they view me as a nanny. The most important thing to me is that a child's needs are met while a parent's worries (whatever they may be) do not come true. I think the balance is important.

My experience with special needs children...

My little sister has had special needs her entire life and I have experienced a lot through taking care of her. She is a good kid and there's a level of understanding that most people don't have when dealing with a special child. I feel that I have the experience that I'd need to deal with the good, the bad, and the ugly. I understand what comes with taking care of a special child and the patience and care you need to maintain.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I've never been a nanny before by title. However, a funny moment when I was babysitting my sister was when she was 3 and we were playing with her stuffed animals. I had one of the stuffed animals point at her as the culprit of this made-up jewelry theft. She gasped and clutched her chest and i have a video of me asking her where her boo-boo is and she says in the cutest little fake sad voice ever while pointing to her chest "my heart". It was so cute I love that video of her and it gets cuter and cuter every time I watch it. Best memory babysitting by far.
