More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a nanny to a family of 5 children (including toddler twins) for the last 3 years, and I have nannied professionally for other families. I have about 15 years experience working in a mixed-age preschool serving young toddlers through Kindergarteners. I also have 3 years experience working as a mentor and teacher to adolescents. In all of these settings, I have gained experience working with children who have special needs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy learning about the interests of the child (or children) and catering to those interests while taking into consideration their temperaments and any unique needs. I specialize in art and sensory-based activities indoors and outdoors. I love reading, cooking and baking, singing, dramatic play, sports, board games and puzzles, obstacle courses, nature walks, playgrounds, libraries, and museums. I am happy to support the interests of each child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are a few things that matter most to me about being a nanny. The first I would say is guaranteeing the safety and overall happiness of the children. The second is building a sound professional relationship with the family as a whole and learning about the family's values and expectations. I see nannying as a partnership where my job is to always communicate with parents about a child's well-being and offer feedback (whenever welcome) on their development or needs; in the same vein, it's important for me to respect and embody what the parents want for their children (e.g., whether it's consistent routines or something more free-flow; limited screen time or lots of outdoor time; tons of free play or targeted academic support. I take the role of being a nanny seriously and the children always come first.

My experience with special needs children...

I have considerable experience with children who have autism, ADHD, AuDHD, and Persistent Demand Avoidance (PDA). I am also sensitive to the needs of children who have unique sensory processing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It's hard to pick just one! I really enjoy moments when children succeed to do something that was once just-beyond-reach, and watching their satisfaction or delight when they realize they did it on their own. Last summer, I helped a child who is now 8 years old set-up a lemonade stand. I helped her to create lemonade from scratch by following a recipe, write text on a large banner, lug table and chairs to the sidewalk, think through how to receive money and give change, and then promote her product to the public. I navigated this by giving her space to do as many tasks as she could on her own so that it felt like her success! And it was such a fun time for everyone involved. She was elated with her experience.

Hi! My name is Addison and I am a college student studying elementary education. I love working with kids! I have been working at my local daycare/preschool in my hometown since I was 16 which serves children infants through pre-k. I obtained my teacher certification about 4 months ago after working as a substitute assistant teacher for 2 years. I have many hours of experience working with children in the classroom and courses in child development which allowed me to earn this certification. Besides that, I have also babysat for the families of my coworkers and students at the center I work at. I love coming up with fun activities and games to play and have a strong understanding of where these kids are at developmentally and what they need and like to do! Ashley B. - Seeking Work in Westfield

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in Westfield, MA: Ashley B.

I have been babysitting since I was 14yrs old! I bounced in and out of retail once I reached working age until I landed a nanny position with a 1yr old & 7yr old 4 years ago. I haven't looked back from childcare since!

Once I was no longer needed for the children, I very quickly moved into a daycare, where I stayed for 2 years! I was the head teacher for the 2yr room but also worked very closely in the 1yr room!

After I left the daycare I started in a nanny share for two families whose boys were 4m and 6m at the time! Since then I haven't looked back from being a nanny! I have worked with many families with kiddos age 3weeks to 3yrs! As a mother's helper or full time nanny!

My wife and I have also been raising our 3 nephews (10, 10 & 9) for the last 10 years along with our 5yr old niece since the day she was born!

I've applied to your listing because I think I would make a great fit for your home! I look forward to hearing back from you!
