Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My childcare journey starts around 8 or 9. I would go to see new moms and hold their babies while they cleaned and rested. I was the neighborhood babysitter at 11 - had to turn down jobs because I already had one that night. I nannied the summer after I graduated then went to a semester of college. After that, I worked at Let them be Kids! for 3 years. I started in the preschool room with me and 18 4-5 year olds. It was a huge learning curve but I am grateful stuck it out. I went on to the 3-4 class with 12 and then the baby room with me and 4. This group was my personal favorite. We thrived with our routine :). I also ran the 2-3 class for a while. I opened up my own Preschool after that and was open for 2 years. It was successful, but I decided not to continue after the owners listed their property. I have worked for an hvac company since and have been recognized for my hard work. I am looking to get back into the childcare scene.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love sensory time with children. I try help them make contained messes where they can explore. I also like to bake with them and to be outside.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a cousin with down syndrome and I love caring for him. I have cared for him a few times without his parents present. I have done tube feedings but would definitely need a refresher. I have worked with kids with autism more. My nephew has autism and I am proudly a reliable caretaker for him. I have also had a child with autism in my preschool class.
