I truly believe that as a nanny you are usually a very influential part of the child's part. Our main role is to see them, validate them and support them as they navigate this big world little by little. They look up to the adults in their lives, so showing them how to love and have empathy and compassion is so important.
My experience with special needs children...
As a CNA at Minnesota Children's Hospital, I spent a lot of time caring for children with physical and mental special needs. I preformed a lot of daily cares some of which being cleaning G-tubes, suctioning, ostomy care. As for mental special needs a huge part of my job was to sit with those kids and actively engage with them and do activities as we waited for their parents to return from work or home.
