More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Nanny for one child (ages 7-9) daily for three summers consecutively, from [phone number hidden].
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When working with children I enjoy cooking/baking, gardening, all arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, board games, nature walks, park adventures, biking, and playing sports (soccer/basketball/dance). I think it's important to keep kids engaged and learning in some way each day. Play offers so much stimuli and growth opportunities so its important to me to switch up the activities!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Everything is a learning opportunity for kids and as care givers it's our privilege to provide them. Encouraging safe, fun, stimulating play is incredibly important. Having that close bond with a non family member is really valuable and teaches kids social and cultural skills.
My experience with special needs children...
Currently working with a handful of students in the after school program who need some additional support however I feel I would benefit from more knowledge and experience working with certain needs before caretaking at home.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One moment that comes to mind was when I was babysitting a 8 year old boy. He was very sports oriented, playful, loved technology, but didn't find a lot of fun in arts or toys. I'd been trying different activities with him each day and finally found two that changed the game for him. I didn't want tech time to be mindless or passive so I encouraged him to film our days together as a way to express his creativity and not comprise his phone time. For example, he enjoyed slime so we often filmed our slime making process in a YouTube style format. Eventually he would become so involved he rarely thought to grab the phone. Another way I lowered his screen usage was board games. He expressed he'd always wanted to play but either didn't have the games or people to play with. So in effort to have him express his artistic abilities we created our own Clue game board with paper and colored pencils. He had a blast finding game pieces and creating characters!

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Lake Oswego, OR: Erin L.
Hi, my name is Erin! I have been working with kids for the past 6 years beginning as a babysitter for a family friend at age 16. During that time I babysat two sweet energetic girls, one 6 and one 3. I have since worked with other families, and getting to know and see the children's personalities develop and change is one greatest aspects of this work. I also have experience tutoring as I got my first experience last year while living in Spain, I tutored a young 11-year-old girl in English, math, and French.
I have worked as an English as a Second Language Teacher for 2 years as well as a Spanish Reading Teacher. Combined I have 3 years of working at the elementary level. My undergraduate degree is in Spanish so tutoring higher leveled language classes is within my domain.

I am silly, empathetic, and flexible yet consistent. I strive to provide a caring, supportive, fun, and engaging environment for kiddos. Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
