A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Emma and I'm an after school elementary teacher in the Lake Oswego School District and a PCC student pursuing my degree in education. Working with kiddos and helping guide/teach the next generation fills me with so much joy and passion! I'm very hands on with my care, I love adventures, crafts, cooking, and nature. I'm extremely creative and artistic so I often find ways to incorporate that into my care. However, I also grew up with many boys in the family so I'm well versed in sports and all types of games. I grew up babysitting for various families with school age children throughout middle and high school. I'm comfortable with pets (dogs, cats, hamsters, etc) and have many myself! I'm a non-smoker, have a drivers license + car, am first aid/CPR certified, and am comfortable doing light house/garden work. If any of this resonated with you, please reach out! I'm excited to hear from you, thank you for your time :)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Nanny for one child (ages 7-9) daily for three summers consecutively, from [phone number hidden].

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When working with children I enjoy cooking/baking, gardening, all arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, board games, nature walks, park adventures, biking, and playing sports (soccer/basketball/dance). I think it's important to keep kids engaged and learning in some way each day. Play offers so much stimuli and growth opportunities so its important to me to switch up the activities!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Everything is a learning opportunity for kids and as care givers it's our privilege to provide them. Encouraging safe, fun, stimulating play is incredibly important. Having that close bond with a non family member is really valuable and teaches kids social and cultural skills.

My experience with special needs children...

Currently working with a handful of students in the after school program who need some additional support however I feel I would benefit from more knowledge and experience working with certain needs before caretaking at home.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One moment that comes to mind was when I was babysitting a 8 year old boy. He was very sports oriented, playful, loved technology, but didn't find a lot of fun in arts or toys. I'd been trying different activities with him each day and finally found two that changed the game for him. I didn't want tech time to be mindless or passive so I encouraged him to film our days together as a way to express his creativity and not comprise his phone time. For example, he enjoyed slime so we often filmed our slime making process in a YouTube style format. Eventually he would become so involved he rarely thought to grab the phone. Another way I lowered his screen usage was board games. He expressed he'd always wanted to play but either didn't have the games or people to play with. So in effort to have him express his artistic abilities we created our own Clue game board with paper and colored pencils. He had a blast finding game pieces and creating characters!

Hello! My name is Izzy! I am a college student looking for a job opportunity this summer (and potential some on and off sitting during my school year)! I am passionate about helping people and making a difference in people’s lives. I have a soft heart for children and want kiddos to be treated with kindness. I like to keep busy so I am willing to do light house work and light meal prep that is needed. I love to cook and bake!! I play volleyball at the collegiate level and love a good competition (light hearted of course). Throughout my years as an athlete I have learned leadership, communication skills, compassion, and commitment through many important life lessons. I have too many hobbies to count and am always willing to learn something new! I hope you consider me as a future sitter!
