A little bit about me

I am college educated - LLB degree in English Law (equivalent of a JD) from the University of Dundee in Scotland in 2013, graduating with honors. Where possible I undertook classes that related to my interest in youth, including courses concerning how law relates to families, justice, and society. My dissertation concerned inter-country adoption.

Post graduation I have worked primarily with children and young people. From [phone number hidden] I worked to teach various life skills to vulnerable youth aged 15 to 18 in Cheshire, UK. My main task in this position was to supervise the child during their day to day life and to teach them how to become a responsible adult. I provided emotional support and taught the young person everything from basic life skills like keeping clean and being kind to others, to making sure homework was completed/obligations met and how to have a productive daily routine, to experiencing the fun and educational things that the local area offered - from musical theater classes to museum trips to doing arts and crafts at home.

This work included supervising and mentoring the students when they were not attending classes as well as liaising with teachers, social workers, and parents to ensure that the children were cared for in the best way possible according to their individual needs. I made sure that every child under my care was happy, healthy, and felt safe and cared for by creating fun games, making tasty snacks, and ensuring that they stayed mentally stimulated. During this time period I obtained qualifications in food hygiene and safeguarding children, and also co-ran a weekly parent/toddler class.

I do not currently drive, but am fully comfortable using the subway system. I am a confident swimmer and enjoy travelling. I have qualifications in safeguarding children & food hygiene.
