I have a background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and growing up in a big family gave me plenty of hands-on experience with babysitting and child care. The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where children feel comfortable, cared for, and encouraged to grow. Building trust with both the children and their families is essential, along with being patient, dependable, and attentive to each child’s individual needs. I also believe it’s important to make learning and everyday activities fun while helping children feel confident and emotionally supported.

My experience with special needs children...

As a Behavior Technician, I worked closely with children with special needs to help them build communication, social, and everyday life skills in a fun and supportive environment. I used positive reinforcement, patience, and individualized strategies to encourage growth and help each child feel comfortable and confident. I enjoyed creating strong connections with the children and celebrating their progress, big or small. This experience taught me how important compassion, consistency, and encouragement are when supporting children and their families.

The most important part about being a nanny...

“I haven’t had many nannying opportunities yet, but one of my favorite experiences was helping care for a child who was very shy and nervous around new people. At first, they barely spoke to me, so I spent time doing activities they enjoyed like drawing, reading stories, and playing games to help them feel more comfortable. By the end of the day, they were laughing, talking, and excited to show me their favorite toys and activities. It was really rewarding to see them open up and feel safe and happy, and it reminded me how much I enjoy working with children and creating positive, supportive connections with them.
