I am a certified Elementary Teacher. While looking for, and applying to, elementary positions for the fall, I have done two Long-Term Substitute assignments at a wonderful school in Grand Haven. Those two assignments were in Kindergarten and Young Fives. Prior to graduating from Grand Valley in 2021, I worked at AppleTree Day Care for the past 3 summers. I mainly worked in our 3-3 1/2 year old classroom, but spent lots of time in our 4-4 1/2 and 5-5/12 year old classrooms! During my college years, I was a nanny in the mornings for a family in the surrounding area.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy coloring, building, playing dress up, doing cool science experiments, playing pretend, board games, and card games. I also enjoy playing active games outside, coloring with chalk, (trying ha!) to play sports. All those good things!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being nanny is fostering and nurturing the loving relationships that you create with the kiddos. I want them to know that as much as their grown-ups are there to create and ensure a healthy, loving, and positive environment and relationship, as there nanny, so am I! Children are all that's good in this world and it is my job, as a nanny AND teacher, to help them, care for them, protect them, and love them!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nannying moments is something that happened over time. The little boy that I cared for in the mornings is super shy...unlike his sister! It was awesome to watch him over time become more comfortable with me and the environment I created while caring for the both of them. He really opened up to me and that made my heart happy!
