More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Right out of high school I worked at the preschool I grew up going to. I worked with Infants, toddlers, twos and threes. Went to college and was a nanny in college for twins while they were 18mon until they went to PreK. When I first moved to NC in 2007 I got a job as an infant teacher at a Children's Academy where I worked until I had my first daughter. I stayed home for 10yrs raising both of my girls and 3 years ago went back into the working world as a two year old teacher at a local preschool. I've substituted occasionally and have also been a TA for Kindergarten (until covid closed schools). Working with kids is my passion, most rewarding job in the world.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outdoors, taking walks, exploring nature, and fresh air. I do a lot of letting children learn by experience. I love, love, love to do keepsake arts and crafts. I also love to let them explore arts and crafts with their own hands (and sometimes feet!). I am a huge advocate for books. Both of my daughters are huge readers, I read to both of them while pregnant. In my preschool classroom I focus on social emotional skills, which are so very important. Once kids hit Pre-K nowadays, they are instantly doing worksheets, or learning to count and sight words. I think children learn best through play. I love playdates and playgrounds.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Following what the family wants, or what they prefer. While we all have different beliefs or ways of doing things; the way a couple wants to raise their child is 100% their choice. Having a nanny or babysitter on board that shares similar values with the family is very important. Staying in constant communication with the parents regarding any issues, or concerns. And of course, honesty is of utmost importance, with both parties involved.
