During my time as a camp counselor, I worked with a child with special needs who was mostly nonverbal and very energetic. I learned how to connect through patience, play, and creativity. We played games, watched movies, and did small crafts together for his mom. It taught me how to communicate in fun, positive ways and how to create a calm, supportive space.
