The most important part about being a nanny...
It is making sure their needs are met, that I'm a positive role model, and their safety is always kept in focus. While these things are very important, it is equally important to ensure that the request of the parents are met and daily activities, functions and schedule are adhered. Making sure that children get their school work complete, have time to be creative, participate in fun, eat regularly and get needed rest is a daily focus.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with those who have special needs is focused on adults and not children. This has helped me gain an understanding of what I can provide in order to help a child with special needs such as tactile, visual and sensory stimulation. I have been trained to do mobility exercises as well. I have a sense of when they are upset, happy or about to have episodes, and how to redirect their behaviors in a place they feel safe and secure.
