Showing kids love is essential. Also, their care and safety are paramount.
My experience with special needs children...
They need encouragement to get well along with them and I find them amazing irrespective of their challenges. Working with autistic children is all fun.

Kids generally need love - sometimes they ask for hugging, petting, attention, wanting to play with you, endeavouring to speak with you, etc.
Some bad moments:
You could suffer any unimaginable from autistic children; not because they intend to hurt you but because of their status.
Several times, I had suffered twists on my hand when I tried to grab one of my kids while he was attempting to run.
Another of the kids scratched my hand and gave me serious injuries (not intentionally though); it is part of the job hazard.
On the whole, I am passionate about children and could do anything for their sake.
